Success of call centers in the Philippines

One thing I found interesting about this subject is how the Filipinos' amiability is one key factor to their success. I believe that besides having any of kind of effective gimmick for a business to work, having a friendly and approachable disposition can guarantee success, especially when it comes to ICT. In this case, when foreigners use call centers and encounter Filipinos on the other end of the phone, the Filipinos are essentially setting a good example of how a business should operate, and not just through effective strategies. Everyone can practically depend on a person who is always true to their word and is diplomatic in every approach in their work.
To conclude, is it truly effective to have a friendly disposition when operating in a direct-contact business such as ICT to ensure maximum prosperity?

  1. I think what you've said is interesting, Cayo. It's smart for these big businesses abroad to outsource their work to countries like the Philippines. It's a win-win situation; both parties involved prosper and profit. My question for you is this: do you think that these Philippine workers (who speak English very well) will eventually outsource their own work to other countries once the economy is big enough?

  2. Great question Cayo. I would argue that not only is it necessary to have a friendly disposition when operating in a direct-contact business such as ICT, but also in many OTHER aspects of work and life. Take teaching for example. Are you going to respond better to a teacher who is pleasant to be around, or one who you dislike, fear, and don't feel comfortable talking to? To me, its obvious: to be friendly is to live a happy life and to live a happy life is to enjoy the time you have on this planet.
